Refining Valves for Extreme Heat, Coking, and Corrosive Service
Our series of engineered valve designs are integral to the refining industry. They play a critical role in managing media flow and isolation during the production phase of fuels, or ‘cracking’. They often endure abrasive process conditions and the high-temperature conditions of refineries. One of the main specialties we target is HPHT, or “High pressure, high temperature”, then add to that the high cycle rates and required reliability under plant safety requirements.
Our ability to combine exotic metallurgies with engineered designs has made Cornerstone a perfect fit for refining. We can utilize proven designs while adjusting for compatibility with unique plant demands. This capacity makes Cornerstone a memorable name in this industry.
An FCC catalyst fines separator system manufacturer contacted Cornerstone to produce valves for high temperature and abrasive service.
Produced in 1993/94, those valves still operate in a North American refinery without requiring service. Subsequently, valves installed in a number of refineries in both North & South America, in both fines removal and catalyst recirculation systems, remain trouble free. Not one trunnion-mounted SB-2 has required servicing or replacement since installation.
